Catalogues and books
On the occasion of the exhibition held at the Fontana d'Or in Girona, I wrote the catalogue published in 2008 by Fundació Caixa Girona. In 2016, a second edition of the book, revised and enhanced, was published by Edicions de la Universitat de Barcelona.
The book consists of 190 pages and 149 color illustrations. It is structured so that it can be read autonomously and independently of any exhibition, with the prints commented and reproduced in a continuous text. My intention was to go beyond the traditional catalogue and to write a book that presents the works and explains them through a rigorous but readable text, that drives from one image to another in a fluid way. The book follows the five sections of the sample, a thematic classification that we also use on the website to present the selected works.
Parallel to the exhibition held at the University of Barcelona, the book El arte del grabado antiguo. Obras de la colección Furió (Edicions de la Universitat de Barcelona, 2014) was published, with 207 pages and 150 color illustrations. The book has a double aim. One side aims at increasing our appreciation and esteem of old master prints, especially from the point of view of the expert and connoisseur. The other side presents a part of the author’s collection, as discussed aspects are explained through a selection of 130 prints from the collection made by the great masters in the history of European printmaking. The text is divided into four sections: appreciation and values, small masterpieces, large engravings and Light, shadows and colour. The foreword is written by José Manuel Matilla, Head of The Department of Prints and Drawings from the Museo Nacional del Prado
