Catalogue and book
On the occasion of the exhibit held at Girona's Fontana d'Or I wrote the catalogue of the exhibition, published in 2008 by Fundació Caixa Girona.
The catalogue, written in Catalan with a Spanish translation at the end of the volume, consists of 223 text pages and 148 colour images. It is structured in such a way that it can be read in detachment from the exhibit, with the eighty engravings portrayed in a continous text. My aim was to take one step further from the traditional consult catalogue and write a book presenting and explaining the pieces by means of a rigorous yet entertaining text that should ease the transition between the images. The catalogue follows the exhibit's five sections , a thematical classification we have also used in this web site as a mean of presenting the selected pieces.
Parallel to the exhibition held at the University of Barcelona, the book El arte del grabado antiguo. Obras de la colección Furió (Edicions de la Universitat de Barcelona, 2014) was published, with 207 pages and 150 color illustrations. The book has a double aim. One side aims at increasing our appreciation and esteem of old master prints, especially from the point of view of the expert and connoisseur. The other side presents a part of the author’s collection, as discussed aspects are explained through a selection of 130 prints from the collection made by the great masters in the history of European printmaking. The text is divided into four sections: appreciation and values, small masterpieces, large engravings and Light, shadows and colour. The foreword is written by José Manuel Matilla, Head of The Department of Prints and Drawings from the Museo Nacional del Prado
